Sin Of Kain: The end

03/06/09  ||  Kampfar

Sin Of Kain is a Hungarian band up to a modern take on extreme metal. Modern I say but I guess electronics are only considered modern in Africa, or at least large parts of it, speaking 2009. What I’m trying to say, this time without a hint of what some would regard as racism, is that modern, now that’s a fucking cliché way of describing music. Then again, I’m quite sure you know what I mean when using the term “modern”. Blah, it doesn’t matter, I’m after all about to explain you exactly why I’m not in love nor loath with what I have signed up to do this time around.

First of all, Sin Of Kain is a pissy moniker. It for sure ain’t the worst any of us have seen, Cannibal Corpse technically speaking lots worse, but at least the gory Americans didn’t name their band after some idiot featuring in a bullshit story featured in a book able to make Mein Kampf(ar) appear down to earth and totally sane. I’m not thinking about the Quran here, but it of course applies to that piece of utter nonsense as well. Silence the minarets, lit all churches on fire, now is time for me to do some close to sober reviewing.

“The end” is not an offensively bad album, obvious talent is present, but it sounds not good at all. The worst offender is the snare, tinny and thin, in my book a sin, and unfortunately also the guitar is infected by the anorexia inflicted by a producer I have no interest knowing the name of. See, the guitar work is quite fine, and the drumming is too, but my ears tells my brain this lot should have gone for a meatier approach. Much like Total Devastation, hail Ukko and his children, did on “Roadmap of pain”. “The end” and “Roadmap of pain” might not be spot on similar albums, but I dare claim, you nitwit, both bands to be aiming for the same nerve. Or, TD isn’t aiming for that particular nerve anymore but they did back then. And they hit the target, extremely close to bullseye and all, so no wonder a shift of focus has taken place.

Kill the human-race.

Sin Of Kain ain’t completely missing the spot, their arrows hit the board, but I would much rather spend my time with “Roadmap of pain”, and Total Devastation in general, than with them here Hungarians in need of a tuning. And of course also a producer free of ear A.I.D.S. and general mongloidism. Other than that, think of their shit as a mix of black, death and electronics. God damn it, before I go and rape me a gangzta ‘ho, I must add that the vocals, and especially the growls, ain’t shit in the least.

Choke on swine flu ‘ye all.
